Sonja moodyrat

Sonja has been part of School of Gaming since 2020 and has explored many corners of Sogverse along the way. As she likes to say, in Sogverse, a new adventure can be waiting around every corner (or a Toxie, one of the story’s antagonistic forces). Sonja studied film and television screenwriting without ever imagining that she would one day find an entirely new kind of stage for her stories in virtual worlds.

One of the things Sonja values most about games and gaming communities is that they can offer a sense of belonging to people who may not have found it elsewhere. She wants to make sure that everyone in Sogverse can feel included and seen for who they are. Equality and inclusion are important themes for her, and Sonja is also one of the founders of Female Gaming Finland, an association working to improve the position of women and gender minorities in gaming culture.

Esports, especially Overwatch, is another topic close to Sonja’s heart. She is particularly interested in developing healthy team cultures and coaching practices, as well as exploring how esports can become more accessible and safer for a wider range of players. She also sees game education as having an important role to play in making that happen.
