Who is Akseli?
Hi!
I'm Akseli, an English teacher and music discourse researcher from Jyväskylä! I've been playing video games and role-playing games for around 25 years, so I like to think I'm at least somewhat of an expert when it comes to these things! I enjoy playing Dungeons & Dragons and doing all kinds of other things related to music and video games, such as writing and producing.
As a teacher, I have experience working with people of all ages, from babies to adults! I believe that teaching and fostering a sense of community are some of the most important values in our society today, which is why I want to promote the social lives and connections of both young people and adults in every way I can. You can never have too many friends!
I still remember my first games, as well as many of the other first games I ever played, sitting on the floor at my grandma's house in front of a CRT television that was bigger than I was, playing on my old Xbox. As a kid, I loved all kinds of random games, and that's where I discovered my favourite video game, Jet Set Radio Future, a Japanese rollerblading game where you fight aliens with graffiti... Nowadays, I either play calm and relaxing games such as Animal Crossing or Pokopia, or highly competitive games and challenging titles!
Some of the most important gaming communities to me are in the games I play with my friends, as well as the tabletop role-playing groups I play with in person. In these groups, everyone gets to completely let loose and become characters who are nothing like their real-life selves, because there's nothing more liberating than simply letting go of your stress!
As a person, I'm calm and friendly. You can always talk to me about your worries, and I'll do my best to help. You can always reach out to me if something is bothering you or if something isn't right, I'll help as much as I can!
